Every thought is written down; every image is drawn.
Hello there! My name is Vanessa Salazar. I go by my nickname "Vannie" for personal reasons. I come from a family of two blood brothers, three step sisters, a step brother, a dad, a mom, a step-mom, and a step-dad. Oh! I also have four dogs (in my mom's house its my baby Daisy and Molly), a random ferret that belongs to my step-siblings (they also have a dog as well), a parrot who hates everyone and everything (he was abused by his previous owners and his name is Keno), six officially adopted cats of different ages (Puff and Tigger ages 17 and they're twins, Bailey age 10, Lucy age 8, Milk age 2, and Cookie age 8 months) one unofficially adopted cat that I took care of at Miami Dade College (she only comes to me and her name is Jinxx age unknown), and my abnormal dark blue crown tail fish (Courtney age 1 1/2 years).
Besides my zoo going on in my house and my extremely large family, I did not have a great childhood (which I will not discuss about, just know it got better in the end). Anyways, I very rarely visit my dad, step-mom, 50 other cousins, who knows how many aunts and uncles, and grandparents who live in Nevada and California. When I do visit, I would work in our family restaurant that is very popular in Carson City (if you watch the original Karate Kid movie, the pink building by the tracks is the family's former restaurant and the staff of the movie used to eat there. Learned about it from my grams "grandma") as a waitress, hostess, and buser. I also go snowboarding in the winter when I visit and I tend to step outside in summer clothes when it's snowing outside and it's 10 degrees outside (cause I'm weird and I don't feel it). In the summer when I visit, my family and I work hard in the restaurant and we would play till we dropped to the ground after working hard. In my mom's house, I help my mom take care of the kids and our zoo that's going on in there too. Since I'm not there, she does everything in the house and I feel bad about that; I try to help as much as I can when I do go home from school.
As an student, I graduated from Miami Dade College and decided to go to school in another city. I wanted to embrace another type of city and see what it is like. I made the right choice on my decision about going to school in another city; I met new people and made a good amount of friends here. I even have a job as a Resident Hall and Apartment Patrol officer on campus and I can live independently (mainly).
In my free time, I read a lot of books instead of watching television. I also hangout with my friends and we have our "family dinner" time where we (mainly me) cook and make enough for more people than usual. We bring other people (who are usually not invited) into our family dinner time and we welcome it! Just last week on Saturday, I made Mexican tacos from scratch. Last semester, we made Japanese hamburger with Japanese white rice. As you can tell, there is a lot of different cultural foods in our "menus". This is mainly because we love different cultures and mainly celebrate them. Speaking of cultures, I know a good amount of languages: English, formal Spanish (Spaniard Spanish), Mexican-Spanish, some basic conversational Japanese, and very little American Sign Language and Russian. I learned them mainly all on my own (Mexican-Spanish being my first language). With these different languages in my mind, it can help me when I want to teach internationally! So this is a little about me (the good ones I promise)!
